Alan became the pastor of First Baptist Church in November 2010. He accepted Christ at the age of nine at Eisenhower Road Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas. After graduating from Clear Lake High School, Alan went to Stephen F. Austin State University with the intentions of obtaining a degree in agriculture. Alan quit college and decided to go into the appliance business with his family. Although Alan ignored a call to ministry God had placed on his life at a young age, God still blessed Alan by placing a wonderful woman in his life and he and Nan were married in March 1987.
Alan and Nan had three children Edward, Callie and Evan. He continued to ignore God’s plan for his life by not surrendering to the call to preach and instead tried to substitute other things for God’s plan. Alan served in many capacities in the church. He was even ordained as a deacon at Allen Heights Baptist Church. God continued to work on him until he could not ignore it any longer. Nan and Alan sought God’s will and after many years God’s plan became even clearer.
Alan realized that totally surrendering to his call was the only option he had for peace in his life. Alan continued to work for a mortgage company in the day and attending Dallas Baptist University at night. After completing his business degree at DBU, Alan moved his family to Ft. Worth to begin his Masters of Divinity at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
God has blessed Alan with his wife of over thirty years and three beautiful children. Their oldest Edward is married, has two children and lives and works in San Antonio. Their precious daughter Callie is also married and lives with her husband and their three children in west Texas. The youngest is Evan who is currently studying for his PhD and teaching at Western Kentucky. Alan believes God has placed him here at First Baptist Church of Buffalo and continues to see what God has in store for him and his family.

Marie began as Children's Minister and Preschool Director of First Baptist Church in July of 1997. She was returning to her roots at FBC, Buffalo since this was where she was born and lived until going away to college. Marie has relished the challenge of ministering and growing in a place that is so close to her heart.
Marie completed her undergraduate degree in Agriculture and Speech Communications at East Texas State University. She met her husband, RC while serving as a youth intern at Bannockburn Baptist Church in Austin.
Once married, Marie went on to complete her Masters Degree in Religious Education at Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth and RC completed his teacher certification. They served at Meadowview Baptist Church, Midlothian during this time before coming to Buffalo.
Marie, RC are active in their community and Buffalo ISD where RC teaches 3rd grade. Their son, Ben helps with the care of his grandparents and daughter, Mollie teaches and coaches in Hallsville. They enjoy spending time with their extended family and when Marie is not at church, she can usually be found lost in a good book! She feels so blessed to be able to impact the lives of children and their families for Christ!!

I never planned to become a worship leader—but God had other plans. I didn’t grow up in a highly musical environment, though my mother’s singing filled our home with warmth. About eight years ago, I taught myself to play guitar, but fear kept me from playing in front of others. Singing for an audience felt overwhelming, so I stayed in the background.
Then everything changed when I truly understood the Gospel. I realized that if I wanted to grow in my faith, I needed to step outside my comfort zone. Scripture shows time and time again how faith multiplies through uncomfortable situations, and I knew I wasn’t an exception.
In the summer of 2022, I saw a bulletin announcing a youth band camp. Something stirred in me and I felt called to help teach kids how to play guitar. I reached out to Eli, our worship leader at the time, and he welcomed the idea with open arms. That decision transformed me. Not only did my faith grow, but so did my friendship with Eli, who became more than a friend—he was a mentor. At the end of band camp, Eli playfully asked, "Are you playing next Sunday?" Hesitantly, I said yes. That moment led to over a year of playing guitar for our church.
Then Eli was called to serve at another church closer to his family, and I was asked to step into his role. I absolutely didn’t want to. Fear crept in, and I felt unworthy. But God had placed people in my life to encourage me, to teach me, and to remind me that He would provide everything I needed. Even though I had no formal music training or leadership background, God showed His faithfulness. He put the right people in my path to equip me, and for that, I am grateful.
Now, as a worship leader, I strive to create a space where people can encounter God through music. It isn't about perfection, but about surrender. My story is proof that God doesn’t call the qualified—He qualifies the called. And I am humbled to follow where He leads.
